Present and former staff, Clearway seniors and juniors and over fifty Clearway School alumni came together for dinner, conversation and reminiscing about the old times at Clearway’s Alumni Dinner. Alumni traveled from as far as Hingham and Worcester to say hello to former classmates and teachers. The celebration began with mingling and appetizers. Recent graduates as well as graduates dating back fifteen years joined us for the celebration.

The downstairs hall was transformed into the “Clearway Cafe” for the night. Beautiful spring tablecloths and sparkling centerpieces helped add to the already festive atmosphere. The dinner was catered by The Chateau Restaurant of Waltham. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. A beautifully decorated cake with “Welcome Back” written across it served as dessert.

After dinner, it was time to catch up and learn about what people had been up to since leaving Clearway School. Everyone introduced him/herself and gave a quick update on where things are in their lives right now. Some are married, some have children (and photo albums full of pictures), some are in college and others are working. It was especially nice for our current seniors to meet some of our former students and hear firsthand what college life is really like and how to access services at the college level. One alumni was even in the process of opening his own business, a gelato/sandwich shop in Newton.

Kerry Dougherty, Clearway School's transition counselor, also had the opportunity to share with every ne some of the exciting changes at Clearway School including the newly established summer program, the golf elective, our afterschool art program as well as an expansion of class and office space.

In true Clearway fashion, no one wanted to leave! It was obvious that everyone was happy they had come back to their old school for the night to say hello to some familiar faces and meet some new friends!
