Clearway depends on fundraised money to help finance its after-school programming. Over two decades ago, Clearway families approached Clearway staff with the concern that their students needed time to build friendships with peers – many of whom live far away.
These families also expressed concern that students needed support in socializing due to social/emotional or pragmatic language concerns. Clearway responded with the Thursday after-school group which has helped numerous students develop friendships and become better connected to our community.
A few years ago, our families expressed similar concerns that their sons/daughters lacked substantial, supportive options for athletics and as a result Clearway began an after-school Ultimate Frisbee team that trains in both the fall and spring and competes against other schools. This too was created with the support of generous donations.
During the 2019-20 school year with the help of generous contributions, Clearway offered a wide variety of after-school programming including a sport each season (prior to the Pandemic), the Thursday after-school social program, ACT prep class, after-school art, and Dungeons and Dragons.
During the 2020-21 school year, students are participating in after-school via zoom.
