After-School Program
Clearway School
History of After-School Programming at Clearway
Over twenty-five years ago, Clearway families approached Clearway staff with the concern that their students needed time to build friendships with peers – many of whom live far away.
These families also expressed concern that students needed support in socializing due to social/emotional or pragmatic language concerns. Clearway responded with the Thursday after-school group which has helped numerous students develop friendships and become better connected to our community.
Over the years, Clearway sought ways to expand after-school programming to respond to other needs of our students. Typically, we have a sports team each season- soccer (fall), basketball (winter), and ultimate frisbee (spring)
Clearway depends on contributions to support after-school programming and programs are only open to current Clearway students.
During the 2021-22 school year, the following after-school programs are taking place (or have occurred):
Thursday social group (2:30 to 4:30)- all year
Soccer (Mondays and Wednesdays in September and October 2:30 to 4:30)
Dungeons and Dragons (Fridays 12:15 to 2:30 from November 5th to January 21st)
Basketball - Winter
Clearway will continue to survey students regarding their interests and offer additional c. 8-week sessions of after-school programs.
After-school programming is organized by Nick Devers at ndevers@clearwayschool.org.
